What is a clicks test?

A clicks test is an online tool utilized by website users to measure the performance of their websites. It helps in determining how quickly and accurately a website responds to user clicks or taps. It is an essential tool for website owners to ensure that users are able to navigate their websites quickly and efficiently with minimal efforts.

The main purpose of a clicks test is to measure the amount of time it takes for a user to perform certain tasks on a website, such as logging in, selecting from a list, making a purchase, etc. The clicks test determines the time between clicking or tapping on an element (button, link) and when the response from the server appears on the screen. This time difference is called "click latency" and it ultimately affects the user experience on a website.

A fast click latency improves user engagement, increases conversions and reduces drop-offs due to waiting times too long for users' patience levels. On the other hand, hazards related to slow-loading pages can be caused by large graphics or videos taking too long to load and tuning page assets down can help solve this issue.

Clicks tests can be also used for A/B testing as they enable comparison between different versions of a webpage in regards of response speed so that developers can determine which version provides quicker content loading speed, or which provides faster typography updates upon user input.
